Oral Surgery: Extract Wisdom Teeth

Yes, teeth, plural. I have 4 wisdom teeth, 2 of them are sleeping teeth and I extracted 3 of them.

I'm gonna suffer anyway, might as well just extract 2 at the same time, this is what I did today - extracted 2 wisdom teeth on my left. Upper one was normal extraction while the bottom one has to do it surgically because it's a sleeping tooth. YEAH! One way ticket to hell. Going to be pain in the MOUTH for a few days. These few days gonna be "interesting".

First surgery I ever had. Well, oral surgery is also surgery. I have to make it sound like a big deal. First off, I met my dentist, sorry I didn't catch her name because she's newbie (obviously) and she didn't even introduce herself to me. Well, don't get me wrong, she did said Good Morning, explain the procedure and asking medical questions and so on. My first impression to her was, shit, she looks young! I'm going to be a lab rat. God damn it. Even though I'm not gonna feel anything during the surgery, still, I'm scared af! It's better to get an experienced dentist than a newbie, obviously. This is what you might occur if you go to a government dental hospital. Well, poor kid has limited budget. I got my braces from the same hospital, might as well I do everything (dental-related) there.

Back to the experience I just had. Thank goodness, a supervisor (a qualified dentist) was assigned to the surgery. A brief relief when she told me that we have to wait for the doctor. 2 dentists (supervisor + newbie) were there to operate the surgery and there was a bunch of assistants (I guess). My appointment time was 9 a.m., I waited until 10 a.m., got into the surgery room at 11 a.m. and get my ass out of the room by 12 p.m. It was a hell out of time. The early (previous) appointment I had, the dentist told me it usually only took 30 minutes and my friend told me it only took her 15 minutes

Before the surgery began, they covered me with cloth, only left my nose and mouth exposed. Yea, I was considered blind-folded. It's good that they covered my eyes because I will freak out if I saw what's going on. Sanitized my exposed area aka my nose and mouth. Try to be calm and constantly take deep breath. I have this problem that sometimes I can't differentiate 'pressure' and 'pain'. Maybe I was just too terrified. Hard pressure does make me think that it's painful. During the surgery, I was thinking, how on earth woman give birth? It must be pain af and I basically zero tolerant to pain. I'll make noise (well, typical me). The dentist had to cut open my tissue (my flesh!) in order to expose the tooth to become visible for them to extract. Seriously, the newbie dentist freaked me out because I overheard that this is the first surgery she ever operated. The only thing I can do was pray hard, hummed some rhythm to 'express' my nervousness. It took quite some time to extract my bottom wisdom tooth surgically and I can hear the sound of machine that is cutting my tooth into half. Just "eehhehhhhheeeeehhh", try to imagine that. Not really loud, but it's in my mouth, the sound is creepy af. It took so long and it felt like a million years... As I said earlier, 1 hour in the surgery room. The bottom wisdom tooth was the effort of both dentists. After it has been extracted, the supervisor even joked and said "It's a boy!" LOL. As if I can laugh at that moment. I LOL in my heart. While the dentist stitched my wound, I can feel the thread in my mouth...

Finally the bottom one was eliminated, but I still have the upper one and I thought, well that should be quick cause the last time I extracted was pretty fast. Well, NOPE. The dentist said I have a strong wisdom tooth. God damn it. It was like a war in my mouth, so much blood and villain act involved. At least no stitches and 'cutting machine'... and yes, I kept my 'legacy'. Not gonna post it here because it's bloody and unpleasant to look at. HAHA.

I had a mild headache after the surgery. I don't know why. The anesthesia was supposed to last about 3 hours. SUCH A LIE. I started to feel pain after 2 hours. Not extremely painful kind of pain, just toothache kind of pain. However, they asked me to pay for strong painkillers (3 pills, take 1 each day). Problem with governmental hospital, not every medicine are free. Well, I don't mind paying that. I rather pay than dwell in pain. Put some ice on my cheek to relieved the pain and took the painkiller as well. YES, my face is swollen, still swelling. Gotten 3 days of MC. I probably skipping class on Thursday then. It's hard for me to talk or eat or get out of my house with my swollen face anyway. Needa make use of the MC. I hope the stitch will fall out naturally. Going to have a review a week later as well. Speedy recovery to myself! :)

That's it. My very first surgery experience.
